Eisner Camp in Israel – Week 2 letter
We started off the week in Jerusalem, where we explored the ancient capital city. Our first stop was the sacred Western Wall, and we each had a chance to put our own prayers into the cracks of the wall. Following our visit, we trekked through ancient underground aqueducts and boarded a bus to Haifa. We spent the afternoon in a Bedouin tent and ate a traditional meal while learning about their culture.
Jewish Life Update, Week 2: Music Makes a Difference
This week we were fortunate to have some great visitors, like the Jewish National Fund and visiting artist Alan Goodis. While he worked with a segment of our campers to write a song, all of our campers got to explore the power of music to inspire and sustain social justice efforts.
Eisner Camp in Israel – First week letter
We’ve been having such an incredible time so far in Europe and Israel! After a delayed flight our trip started off with a visit to the Czech Republic where we learned about the rich history of the Jewish people who lived there before the Holocaust. We visited incredible synagogues and got the chance to eat some incredible Czech food. We then drove to Poland and spent some time visiting sites relevant to the Holocaust, like Auschwitz. It was a tough week, but we got through it together.
A Message from the Unit Heads: Week 1
We had an amazing first week in Ktanim! We had some awesome evening programs, including a scavenger hunt where we searched for ingredients to make the Israeli snack “Krembo” and our Messy Night where we blew bubbles, mixed paint with our hands, and made Oobleck. We also had our unit Teva experience where we learned how to use a map and compass and constructed a shelter out of things in nature. We’re so excited for what our second week will bring!
Jewish Life Update, Week 1: Learning to be Grateful
We always start camp the same way–by teaching campers to acknowledge goodness and express gratitude. Campers get a chance to meet members of our kitchen staff and learn about their lives. We have an amazing number of staff with advanced degrees who speak multiple languages, and they come from fascinating countries all over the world!

Jewish Life: Limud & Kesher College at Eisner
ednesday was the twentieth day of our twenty-three days of staff training before the opening of camp. There’s a lot to do to get camp ready– training staff in supervision, safety, and camper care; preparing different program areas; orienting new staff to the culture of Eisner Camp. This last item involves learning about, and experiencing the core values of our camp, and these are Jewish values. So on Wednesday the entire staff, including administrative, housekeeping, kitchen, counselors, instructors, and leadership team all had a chance to participate in a day of Jewish learning.

From the commemoration of the sadness Shoah to the starting of the seminar for summer 2018 to weddings and celebrations, Judaism lives and continues to flourish in our people, in our camps and in our communities. I am blessed to not only witness but to be able to be a small part of it.
