The spirit of camp revolves around our Chadar Ochel (dining hall). The whole camp eats together for Breakfast and Lunch. At Dinner, Lower camp (K’tanim, Bonim, Chalutzim and Ofarim) and Upper Camp (Chaverim, Tzofim, and Olim) eat in two shifts, creating a developmentally appropriate evening schedule Sunday through Thursday. The entire camp eats together to celebrate Shabbat. We celebrate Friday nights with a traditional, festive Shabbat dinner, followed by a spirited song session and Israeli dancing under the stars.

At each meal, the camp recites Hamotzi (blessing over the meal) before we eat and chant Birkat Hamazon or B’rich Rachamana (grace after meals) after we eat. Our food is prepared with love and served family style.

Eisner camp is kosher style. We are not a kosher facility, yet we do not serve pork or shellfish (or products containing them), and they are not permitted on campgrounds. When meat is served, vegetarian options are offered, and a non-dairy dessert is served. Campers who require special allergy or health-related diets are easily accommodated. If you have any questions about our summer meal program or your child’s dietary limitations, please call the camp office.

In keeping with our goals of developing the whole camper, Eisner Camp promotes healthy eating. At breakfast, cold cereal, fresh cut fruit, Greek yogurt, milk and orange juice are available alongside the hot option.  Fresh fruit, an extensive salad bar with protein options, and soy butter and jelly are available at lunch and dinner. We offer vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free alternatives. Weekly outdoor barbeque with burgers and hot dogs are a camper highlight.

We strive to serve all of our campers’ dietary needs by offering a wide variety of meal options. We provide a safe environment for campers with food allergies and always have a complete list of ingredients of our meals on hand. Please call our office to discuss any specific food questions.
