Another fantastic week, one full of trips and special activities, is in the books – what have our units been up to?
K’tanim
It’s been an exciting week in K’tanim! On Monday, 12 new campers joined our unit, and they’ve already made many friends! On Wednesday, we had Trip Day – we went to the Berkshire Museum, which included some very hands-on exhibits and an aquarium. We also went to The Cove, where we went bowling and mini-golfing. On Friday, Bunk 15 went to Adventure to experience the tower and the swing, which Bunk 14 will do next week. We all went to Teva together, where we went on a hike and made s’mores and a “pigs in a blanket” for lunch. We’re looking forward to our Wacky Science Night this week, and seeing some of our campers perform in The Velveteen Rabbit!
Bonim
Bonim has enjoyed a fun-filled week! We went to Quassy Park, where we went on rides, ate a lot of ice cream, and won some awesome carnival prizes. In our “Bonim Goes to the Polls” evening program, different “candidates” shared their platforms, such as those supporting more Mo and having Trip Day every day. Campers voted by the end of the night for more Mo (which will start in 10 years, naturally). Some campers in our unit wrote and performed an original song with Alan Goodis at Shabbat morning T’filah. We also had Bonim/Olim swim, where our campers had the chance to swim with their Olim buddies. The Velveteen Rabbit and Chagigah (camp’s arts festival) are this week, and we couldn’t be more excited!
Chalutzim
Our week in Chalutzim was fantastic! On Tuesday, we chased aliens for Alien Invasion night, which was a wacky evening of fun and bunk bonding. Then, we went to Lake Compounce for Trip Day, where we went on roller coasters and water rides and ended the night with a barbecue. Some of our boys went to a basketball tournament, and showed plenty of ruach while competing hard. We led Friday night T’filah, and shared our thoughts and talents on the theme of “trust.” We’re looking forward to seeing some of our campers in our unit show, Beauty and the Beast, and in our talent show – “Chalutzim’s Got Talent!”
Ofarim
We’ve had an amazing week in Ofarim! On Wednesday, we went to Six Flags for Trip Day! With roller coasters, water rides, and shows, it was the best Trip Day ever! For one of our evening programs, we did a #TBT to our Kindergarten days and got super messy while having fun. In art this week, some campers made puppets with our artist in residence, while others worked on the newest Eisner original song, “Be the One.” We’re looking forward to seeing some of our campers in our unit show, Beauty and the Beast, this week!
Chaverim
Chaverim had a great Trip Day! We traveled to Lake George, where we visited the beach and historic village. We also played some mini-golf and took an entertaining boat cruise around the whole of the lake. The next day, we played laser tag, went go-karting, roller blading, and ended at the Great Escape amusement park, where we experienced thrilling rides! We also drove into our emotions with an “Inside Out” themed evening program. We’re looking forward to the last week of first session and are excited for our unit show, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!
Tzofim
Tzofim had a great week! We went to Cape Cod for our Trip Day, where we played mini-golf, went to the Cape Cod potato chip factory, and chilled on the beach. When we came back to camp, some of our campers wrote and recorded an original Eisner song with Alan Goodis. We bonded as a unit by cloud busting and rolling down Olim hill as a unit activity! We’re excited for Chagigah, our camp-wide arts festival, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee – we have campers in the show AND the pit band!
Olim
Our week was incredible – we spent four days in Montreal! Some of our highlights include ice skating, checking out the various lifeforms in the Biodome, and jet boating! On the way back, we stopped for a tour at the original Ben and Jerry’s factory. Without a doubt, the fresh ice cream was some of the best we’ve ever had. We enjoyed every moment of Shabbat this week, from services, to song session, to Israeli dancing. We’re looking forward to the Olim Show this week, which was written, produced, and will be performed exclusively by our campers!
