Near the top of Olim Hill sits a barn, and inside you’ll find Eisner’s favorite farm animals!Animal Farm Pic 3

Campers who select Animal Farm for their chug (elective) spend time meeting, feeding, and caring for our animals. This summer, we have 18 animals: two pigs, three goats, four chickens, two sheep, four guinea pigs, and three bunnies — a veritable Noah’s ark in the Berkshires!

Avihai, an animal specialist and Chaverim counselor, sees his farm as similar to the rest of camp.

“It’s like having a bunk…we need to feed them, take care of them, do Nikayon,” he says. His favorite time is during Breira, when they let the pigs out of their pen and allow the kids to play with them.

“I really love it.”

Avihai isn’t the only onAnimal Farm Pic 2e who loves the farm. Over the past few years, the farm has become one of the most popular chugim offered on a weekly basis, as well as one of the most popular destinations during Breira.

Brandon, a K’tanim camper, chose to spend some of his Saturday Breira at the farm. He chose the farm “because they have cute animals, like a baby goat, and they’re fun to play with.”

The animal farm at Eisner continues to connect our community with friendly wildlife in a unique and inspiring fashion, teaching campers the value of tzaar ba’alei chayim, the ethical treatment of animals.
