To address the growing challenges and changing face of the modern Jewish family, URJ Eisner and Crane Lake Camps, through the generosity of Robert and Amy Heller, have created the Heller-Wexler Family Camp Series. Our Family Camp weekends shape and frame the Shabbat experience through hands-on programs and activities that explore the joys and challenges of family life through a Jewish lens. Time together as a family and meeting other families, make these weekends unforgettable! Sports, crafts, yoga, hiking, adventure games, outside activity providers and more fill each weekend with fun family time. Leave your laptops, iPads, TV’s and gaming systems at home and join us. We ask children to put their cell phones away for the weekend and ask parents to keep theirs in their pockets!
Each family is housed in one of our private or semi-private comfortable heated facilities: Kivie Kaplan Center, Manor House, Messinger Leadership Center or camper cabins. Kaplan Center is a 2-story modern building with 12 bedrooms and private bathrooms. Manor House, a beautiful historic mansion built in 1904, offers 14 dormitory-style bedrooms, some with private bathrooms. Our Messinger Leadership Center has 12 rooms, some with private bathrooms and some with shared bathrooms. Our cabins can house one family or offer families the chance to room with friends. Each cabin has its own bathroom and twin-size beds for adults.
Families will enjoy Eisner Camp’s indoor and outdoor facilities and our scenic grounds which include a lake, walking paths, numerous sports fields, and an indoor sports center with fitness room.
The Heller-Wexler Family Camp Series was created through the generosity of Amy Wexler Heller and Robert Heller. Amy and Bob met at Eisner Camp in 1961 and started dating during the summer of 1962. Amy and Bob have built a beautiful life together with two children and 5 grandchildren. They are committed to ensuring that families have access to engaging Jewish experiences at camp throughout the year.
Our Heller-Wexler Family Camps are designed to provide an immersive experience that explores the joys and challenges of family life through a Jewish lens. They provide opportunities for families to enjoy quality time together while meeting other families and sharing experiences that make these weekends unforgettable!
As a result of Amy and Bob’s continuous generosity, we now have financial assistance available to make it possible for more families to participate in the five Family Camps we’re offering during the 2019-2020 school year.
