The Day Camp at Eisner is located on the grounds of URJ Eisner Camp in Great Barrington, in the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts. Our Day Camp has its own building and spacious enclosed playground with plenty of room for games, exercise, exploration and fun. However, our Day Campers also spend much of the day around camp enjoying the facilities of our overnight camp: two heated swimming pools, numerous athletic fields, tennis courts, indoor theater, arts and crafts center, Teva (nature program), gardens, animal farm, indoor sports center and lake. Our Day Camp day begins at 9:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Eisner Day Camp is an accredited camp of the American Camping Association.

Our youngest campers are 4 years old (by July 1, 2020) and our oldest campers are rising 2nd graders whose families live year-round or seasonally in the southern Berkshire region of Massachusetts and New York. Transportation to and from camp is available at an additional cost for families in Lenox, Lee, Stockbridge, West Stockbridge, Monterey, New Marlborough, Sandisfield, and Great Barrington. We must have at least four campers on each van route to run the van.

All campers must be up to date with their immunizations, as required by the Massachusetts Board of Health and the Union for Reform Judaism, in order to attend our Day Camp.

Our staff is carefully selected based on their maturity, understanding of young children and their commitment to the Jewish values central to our camp program. Along with our overnight camp staff, they receive on-site training from our camp directors, outside professionals and industry experts as well as training specific to working with our young campers. Many of our counselors are college students and former Eisner campers. Our specialists, who work each day with our Day Camp, are both college and graduate students who hail from all over the world. Swim staff receive American Red Cross lifeguard training. Our professional Health Center is staffed by caring nurses and a physician. Local and federal background checks are certified for each staff member.

Each day, expect for trip days, campers enjoy a Kosher-style, kid-friendly and nutritious lunch in our newly-renovated, air-conditioned Dining Hall. Special attention is paid to our campers with allergies and limited diets. Our entire camp is peanut and tree nut safe. An afternoon snack is enjoyed daily as well as a weekly visit to our canteen.

Most weeks, campers enjoy trips out of camp to local attractions for a special day of fun. In the past, we’ve traveled to Bousquet Water Park, Windy Hill Farm, The Cove, Seuss in Springfield, Berkshire Museum and Theater and other fun-filled local venues. On trip days, campers wear a special Day Camp T-shirt and enjoy a picnic lunch.

Jewish discovery is an integral part of our Day Camp program. Age-appropriate, hands-on activities are included weekly to teach our campers about working and playing together in a Jewish community that is inclusive, caring and kind. Hebrew words are used throughout the day, blessings are recited before and after each meal, Hebrew songs are a part of our music program and we “travel” to Israel each summer as well.

On Friday afternoons, we encourage our Day Camp families to join us for a Shabbat celebration which includes song and prayer led by our campers. Our celebration concludes with an Oneg Shabbat of cookies, juice and fruit. Our campers return home with a freshly-baked challah they baked earlier that day.
