Eisner Camp came to life for the first time of Summer 2016 during Sunday’s New Camper Orientation! Over 70 new campers, from our youngest to oldest units, joined members of the summer staff for a day of introductions, tours, and fun in the camp community.IMG_2259 (002)

The rain couldn’t prevent new campers and their families from enjoying the welcoming warmth of Eisner Camp. Members of the Leadership Team and staff welcomed families, making everyone feel safe and at home. After introductions in the Beit Am, families toured camp to see where campers would play, eat, and sleep for a session or two this summer.

Following these tours, campers had the opportunity to play games with staff members and their new friends. Parents spent time with Louis to prepare for their campers’ first summer at Eisner. To close out the day, families and new friends reunited in the Chadar Ochel for snacks, a photo booth, and a chance to say “L’hitraot – See you soon!”

Many of the youngest campers shared some enthusiastic thoughts. Jared, a new Bonim camper, cited his favorite things about the day as “playing games in the gym” and that he “made new friends.” Ben, from ChIMG_2279alutzim, enjoyed “meeting new people that are going to be at the camp,” as well as “doing fun activities.”

Paola and Melanie, friends coming into Bonim together, both loved the lake. Paola said, “We’re glad we came to see the lake and the bunk beds!” Melanie was equallyIMG_2281 excited about living at camp for a few weeks.

The day was also one of reassurance and reflection for parents, who were able to see what this camp is all about. Melanie’s father, Mark, said, “I’m glad that we got to see firsthand that this is a quality camp and staff. The interactions that we had have us feeling much more relaxed [about the summer].”

Melanie chimed in, “It feels better. Now you know what it feels like and you won’t be lost.”

As Hannah Doban, a member of this summer’s Leadership Team stated, “Seeing the new campers’ energy inspired me, making me even more ready for the summer to start!” New Camper Orientation was a great event, preparing both families and staff members for a summer that will last a lifetime!
